Book Club
Most people assume that a person's intention determines their destination. But if this is the case, why is it that so many smart people with admirable goals often end up far from where they want to be? Why do so many people start out with a clear picture of what they want their future to look like only to find themselves miles away from their goal?
Andy Stanley suggest that direction, not intention, determines one's destination. This conviction is what led him to write his book called, The Principle of the Path. It's an easy-to-read book with realistic steps that each one of us can take. It's also the book that we'll be reading and discussing during our 2010 summer book club.
You can browse through the Table of Contents and even read a bit of Stanley's book.
Or, you can watch Stanley's three minute video on what this book is all about.
Our book club will meet every Wednesday for five weeks at the Starbucks located at 8660 200th Street beginning at 7:30 PM.

Here are some books that we've used in past book club environments and that other people in our church family have been reading:
- The Book of Negroes (Lawrence Hill) - this was an engaging novel that produced a lot of dialogue during our 2009 summer book club.
- unChristian: what a new generation really thinks about Christianity... and why it matters (David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons) - this researched-based book provides findings on what people think about Christians and what Christians need to do about it.
- The Prodigal God (Timothy Keller) - a fascinating book that unpacks one of Jesus' most well-known parables, yet misunderstood, parables.
- Love and Repect (Dr. Emerson Eggerichs) - an excellent read that explains a wife's need for love and a husband's need for respect.
- Building Faith at Home (Mark Holmen) - faith lived out in home is much more influential in a child's life than what they hear at church. This book describes how to develop spiritual emphases at home and how to develop family ministry.
